Privacy policy

1. Data protection at a glance

General notes
The following information provides a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit our website. Personal data refers to all data with which you can be personally identified. For detailed information on the subject of data protection, please refer to our privacy policy listed below this text.

Data collection on our website
Who is responsible for data collection on this website?
The data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You can find their contact details in the legal notice on this website.

How do we collect your data?
Your data is collected when you send this to us. This may concern, e.g. data that you have entered in a contact form.
Other data is automatically collected by our IT systems when visiting the website. This is mainly technical data (e.g. Internet browser, operating system or time when the page is accessed). This data is collected automatically as soon as you visit our website.

What do we use your data for?
Some of the data is collected in order to guarantee error-free provision of the website. Other data can be used to analyse your user behaviour.

What rights do you have regarding your data?
You have the right at any time to receive information free of charge about the origin, recipient and purpose of the personal data stored about you. You also have a right to demand that this data be rectified, blocked or erased. You can contact us at any time at the address given in the legal notice for this and other questions on the subject of data protection. Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the responsible supervisory authority.

Analysis tools and tools from third-party providers
When visiting our website, your surfing behaviour can be statistically evaluated. This primarily takes place with cookies and what are known as analysis programs. The analysis of your surfing behaviour is usually anonymous; the surfing behaviour cannot be traced back to you. You can object to this analysis or prevent it by not using certain tools. Detailed information on this can be found in the following privacy policy.
You can object to this analysis. We will inform you about the withdrawal options in this privacy policy.

2. General information and mandatory information

Data protection
The operators of these sites take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations as well as this privacy policy.

When you use this website, various types of personal data are collected. Personal data refers to data with which you can be personally identified. This privacy policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. It also explains how and for what purpose this takes place.

We wish to point out that data transfer over the Internet (such as communication by e-mail) can be subject to security vulnerabilities. It is not possible to completely protect data from being accessed by third parties.

Withdrawal of consent to data processing
Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time. An informal e-mail notification to us is sufficient for this purpose. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out until the withdrawal of consent remains unaffected by the withdrawal of consent.

Right to lodge a complaint with the responsible supervisory authority
In the event of breaches of data protection law, the data subject has the right to lodge a complaint with the responsible supervisory authority. The responsible supervisory authority for data protection issues is the state data protection officer of the federal state in which our company is based. A list of the data protection officers and their contact details can be found via the following link: https://www.bfdi.bund.de/DE/Infothek/Anschriften_Links/anschriften_links-node.html.

Right to data portability
You have the right to have data that we automatically process based on your consent or the performance of a contract handed over to you or a third party in a common, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, thus only takes place if it is technically feasible.

SSL or TLS encryption
This website uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or enquiries, that you send to us as the website operator. You can identify an encrypted connection in that the address bar of the browser changes from “http://” to “https://” and the padlock symbol appears in your browser bar.
If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data that you send to us cannot be read by third parties.

Access, blocking, erasure
Within the framework of the applicable legal provisions, you have the right at any time to free access to the personal data stored about you, information on its origin and recipient and the purpose of data processing and, if applicable, a right to the rectification, blocking or erasure of this data. You can contact us at any time at the address given in the legal notice for this and other questions on the subject of personal data.

Objection against promotional e-mails
The use of our contact details, published in accordance with the German legal requirements to provide a legal notice, to send advertising and information materials not explicitly requested is hereby prohibited. The site operators expressly retain the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of promotional information, for instance through spam e-mails.

3. Data collection on our website

Cookies
Some of the websites use what are known as cookies. Cookies do not cause any harm to your computer and do not contain any viruses. Cookies are used to make our website more user-friendly, effective and safer. Cookies are small text files which are stored on your computer and which your browser saves.
Most of the cookies we use are “session cookies”. They are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies enable us to identify your browser again when you next visit.

You can set your browser in such a way that you are informed about the saving of cookies and only permit cookies on an individual basis, accept cookies in certain cases, or fundamentally reject them and activate automatic deletion of the cookies when the browser is closed. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be restricted.

Cookies that are required to carry out the electronic communication process or for the provision of certain functions you require (e.g. shopping basket function) are stored on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the storage of cookies for the technically error-free and optimised provision of their services. If other cookies (e.g. cookies for analysing your surfing behaviour) are stored, these are dealt with separately in this privacy policy.

Server log files
The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in what are known as server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

•    Browser type and browser version
•    Operating system used
•    Referrer URL
•    Host name of the accessing computer
•    Time of the server request
•    IP address

This data is not combined with other data sources.
The basis for data processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, which permits the processing of data for the performance of a contract or to take steps prior to entering into a contract.

Contact form
If you send us enquiries via the contact form, your details from the enquiry form, including the contact details you provide there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in the event of follow-up questions. We will not pass on this data without your consent.

The processing of the data entered into the contact form thus takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time. An informal e-mail notification to us is sufficient for this purpose. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out until the withdrawal of consent remains unaffected by the withdrawal of consent.

The data entered by you on the contact form will remain with us until you request erasure, withdraw your consent to storage or the purpose of data storage no longer applies (e.g. after processing your request). Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.

Registration on this website
You can register on our website to use additional functions on the site. The data entered for this is only used for the purposes of using the respective offer or service for which you have registered. The mandatory data requested during registration must be stated in full. Otherwise, we will reject the registration.
We use the e-mail address entered during registration to inform you about important changes, such as to the scope of service, or technically necessary changes.
The processing of the data entered during registration takes place on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time. An informal e-mail notification to us is sufficient for this purpose. The lawfulness of the data processing already carried out remains unaffected by the withdrawal of consent.

The data collected during registration is saved by us as long as you are registered on our website and is then deleted. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

4. Social media

Sharing content via plugins
The content on our website can be shared on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter or Google+ in compliance with data protection.

Our users can share the content from this website on social networks in compliance with data protection without complete surfing profiles being created by the operators of the networks.

XING plugin
Our website uses functions from the network XING. The provider is XING AG, Dammtorstraße 29-32, 20354 Hamburg Germany.

Every time that one of our pages containing the XING functions is accessed, a connection is established with the XING servers. To our knowledge, no personal data is saved as part of this. In particular, no IP addresses are saved and usage behaviour is not evaluated.

More information on data protection and the XING share button can be found in the XING data privacy policy at: https://www.xing.com/app/share?op=data_protection.

5. Analysis tools and advertising

Google Analytics
This website uses functions from the web analytics service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
Google Analytics uses what are known as “cookies”. These are text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of how you use the site. The information collected by the cookie on your use of this website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the US and stored there.
Google Analytics cookies are saved on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour in order to optimise both their web content and their advertising.

IP anonymisation
We have activated the IP anonymisation function on this website. As a result, Google will truncate your IP address within Member States of the European Union or in other countries that are party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area prior to transfer to the USA. Only in exceptional cases will the entire address be transmitted to a Google server in the US and truncated there. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing the website operator with other services relating to website activity and Internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser within the context of Google Analytics will not be associated with any other data held by Google.

Browser plugin
You can prevent the saving of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly; however, we would like to point out that you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent in this case. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) for Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en-GB.

Objection against data collection
You can prevent your data from being collected by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will be saved that prevents the collection of your data when visiting this website in the future: deactivate Google Analytics.

You can find further information on the handling of user data by Google Analytics in the Google privacy policy at: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en.

Commissioned data processing
We have concluded a contract with Google for commissioned data processing and fully implement the strict requirements of the German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

Demographics on Google Analytics
This website uses the “demographics” function from Google Analytics. This allows reports to be created that contain statements on the age, gender and interests of website visitors. This data comes from interest-based advertising from Google and from user data from third-party providers. This data cannot be assigned to any particular person. You can deactivate this function at any time in the ads settings in your Google account or generally prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics as shown in the point “Objection against data collection”.

Google AdWords and Google conversion tracking
This website uses Google AdWords. AdWords is an online advertising programme from Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States (“Google”).
As part of Google AdWords, we use what is known as conversion tracking. If you click on an ad displayed by Google, a cookie is saved for conversion tracking. Cookies are small text files that the Internet browser saves on the user’s computer. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and are not used to personally identify the user. If the user visits certain pages on this website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can identify that the user has clicked on the ad and been forward to this page.

Every Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. The cookies cannot be tracked via the websites of AdWords customers. The information gathered using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have chosen conversion tracking. The customers find out the total number of users who have clicked on their advertisement and were transferred to a page fitted with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that enables users to be identified personally. If you do not want to take part in tracking, you can object to this use by simply deactivating the Google conversion tracking cookie via your Internet browser under User Settings. You will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics.

“Conversion cookies” are saved on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour in order to optimise both their web content and their advertising.

You can find more information about Google AdWords and Google conversion tracking in the Google privacy policies: www.google.com/policies/privacy/.

6. Newsletter

Newsletter data
If you want to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an e-mail address from you and information that allows us to check that you are the holder of the stated e-mail address and consent to receiving the newsletter. Other data will not be collected or will only be collected on a voluntary basis. We exclusively use this data to send the requested information and do not pass this on to third parties.

The processing of the data entered into the newsletter subscription form thus takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw the consent granted to the saving of the data, the e-mail address and its use to send the newsletter at any time, such as via the “unsubscribe” link in the newsletter. The lawfulness of the data processing already carried out remains unaffected by the withdrawal of consent.

The data saved by us about you for the purposes of obtaining the newsletter is saved by us to unsubscribe you from the newsletter and is deleted once you have been unsubscribed from the newsletter. Data saved by us for other purposes (e.g. e-mail addresses for the member area) remained unaffected by this.

MailChimp
This website uses the services of MailChimp to send newsletters. The provider is Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.
MailChimp is a service that, among other things, can be used to organise and analyse the sending of newsletters. If you enter data for the purpose of obtaining the newsletter (e.g. e-mail address), this will be saved on the servers of MailChimp in the USA.

MailChimp holds certification according to the “EU-US Privacy Shield”. The “Privacy Shield” is an agreement between the European Union (EU) and the USA that is intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards in the USA.

With the help of MailChimp, we can analyse our newsletter campaigns. When you open an e-mail sent with MailChimp, a file contained in the e-mail (called a web beacon) connects with the servers of MailChimp in the USA. This makes it possible to identify whether a newsletter message was opened and which clicks, if any, were clicked on. Technical information is also collected (e.g. time of access, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. It is exclusively used to statistically analyse newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better adapt future newsletters to the interests of the recipients.

If you do not want any analyses by MailChimp, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a corresponding link for this in each newsletter message. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter directly on the website.

Data processing takes place on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The lawfulness of the data processing already carried out remains unaffected by the withdrawal of consent.

The data saved by us about you for the purposes of obtaining the newsletter is saved by us to unsubscribe you from the newsletter and is deleted both from our servers and from the servers of MailChimp once you have been unsubscribed from the newsletter. Data saved by us for other purposes (e.g. e-mail addresses for the member area) remained unaffected by this.
You can find more details in the MailChimp privacy policy at: https://mailchimp.com/legal/terms/.

Google Web Fonts
This website uses Web Fonts provided by Google in order to display fonts consistently. When you access a page, your browser loads the required Web Fonts into your browser cache to display texts and fonts correctly.

To do this, the browser you use must connect to Google’s servers. In this way, Google becomes aware that our website has been accessed via your IP address. The use of Google Web Fonts takes place in the interest of presenting our online offers in a uniform and appealing way. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
If your browser does not support Web Fonts, a default font is used by your computer.
